Get Lost in Time in the Heart of Colonia!

If you want to take a trip through time, get lost in a colonial landscape, and feel the family spirit of the local people, this is the perfect tour. Join us to discover this city on the eastern shore of Rio de la Plata, where time seems to have another measure!

Just a one-hour ferry ride from Buenos Aires, or three hours driving from Montevideo, lies Colonia del Sacramento, the oldest city in Uruguay. It was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, as its old town still keeps the lines and borders of several time periods and kingdoms that shaped it.

We meet at the port terminal or hotel and begin our journey in the Old City. Walking around, you experience history in every step as you explore streets and houses built by the Portuguese and Spanish. Discover the wall, Main Square, the lighthouse, the convent, the church, and many other places that make you feel like you’re at the fort in the 1700s.

Restaurants and coffee shops offer you different options to taste our best traditional food and drinks. If you would like, we can add a mate tasting in a house that was built by the Spanish in the 1730s. Cheese and local products with the Uruguayan mate make for a unique experience.

Driving north, we can visit the Real de San Carlos, where you can see the first port, the first hotel in Colonia del Sacramento, and the bullring for more than 7,000 people, built in 1910. Nearby, we can visit San Benito, a chapel that was built by the Spanish in 1761.

We can also tailor this tour to fit your particular interests. Please let us know if you have any special requests.
